SEASON THREE
Every episode our team will work to provide you with visual and video aids to help you better understand comparisons and what we’re talking about.
Below are some resources surrounding what we discussed about Shenhe that may be helpful to better understand this week’s lore:

Shenhe’s backstory is a tragic one, one that legends are made of. Which is why Yun Jin’s father wrote their latest opera based on her story, with some positive spins.

As Feens reminded us, we learn at the end of Shenhe’s character demo that she’s actually Chongyun’s aunt. Which makes sense since they are both from exorcist villages.

The village Shenhe comes from is on the southwestern side of Mt. Tianheng. It’s desserted and falling apart, but thanks to Uncle Mingjun we’re able to find notes about Shenhe’s past. Notes that help Yun Jin put together the fact that Shenhe’s story and her opera are in fact the same story.

When we complete the quest to find Subrosium, we’re given the book ‘Record of Changing Village’. In this book we learn how “in around two weeks, the mother died of disease, the young daughter went missing, and shortly after, the father hanged himself on a tree in the yard of his own house.” Sound familiar?

During the epic battle between the Jade Chamber and Beisht, we see some skills from our vision holders that we haven’t before. Like Ningguangs giant stone arrows and Shenhe’s frozen tsunami.

Feens points out that the back of Shenhe’s outfit matches Cloud Retainer. It’s little details like these that show just how intentional so much of the game development is inline with the lore of the characters.

The place where Chongyun hangs around trying desperately to be exorcise spirits is Wuwang Hill. You can see the blue light spirits hanging around anytime you go there. If you want to know why Chongyun isn’t a good exorcist and why he always needs popsicles nearby, check out his in-game hangout.

The Calamity Queller is made of materials not of this world, like a few other items Feens points out. This polearm was made with a stone an exorcist found. All people who have used it have also died a horrible death. Maybe we should just leave this weapon in the Chasm where the stone was found.

Al makes a reference to the Dragon Warrior in Kung Fu Panda. In case you were as lost as Bee & Tif, here is a clip.

Artist Spotlight

There are so many talented & creative people in the Genshin community, and we’d like to spread some love to a wonderful artist – Coquito (@cqtlatte). What can we say, we’re in love with the swirls! Perhaps its the dreamlike fairytale feel it gives otherwise hardened characters like Shenhe. Maybe it’s simply because it’s done so well and marries all the colors of the pieces together. Either way, it’s beautiful!
