SEASON THREE

Every episode our team will work to provide you with visual and video aids to help you better understand comparisons and what we’re talking about.

Below are some resources surrounding what we discussed about Caribert that may be helpful to better understand this week’s lore:

A hilichurl, from Genshin Impact, holds a hand to its face. There is a purple glow coming from behind the mask. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

This episode we talk about the Sumeru Archon Quest, Caribert. If you want to revisit this entire quest, you can thanks to YouTuber Fayato.

Chlothar, a character from Genshin Impact, looks shocked with his mouth slightly open at something off screen. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

One of the main characters of this story is Chlothar Alberich, who first introduced himself as Eide. When we first meet him, we recognized that he was from Khaenri’ah by his diamond eyes and clothing.

A hilitroll, a being from Genshin Impact, stands staring at the camera. It's important to note that they have a purple bandana wrapped around their left wrist as an identifier. This is unusual for a hilichurl. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

At first look, Caribert resembles a regular hilichurl. But when you look closer, you see the purple scarf tied around his left wrist. Chlothar originally gave that scarf to Caribert’s mother, so fittingly he gave it to Caribert as way to differentiate him from the other churls.

A broken mirror with a wooden frame sits inside an open wooden box. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

When we first enter the hut with Paimon and Dainsleif, we note that the mirror in the box is broken. Later in the quest, Chlothar says the mirror was broken by Caribert, which confuses us since we know the mirror was already broken. One of the few clues of the time rift.

A large purple crystal floats in the middle of a room chained to the walls. A purple glow emanates from it. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

At the center of the cave we venture into, we find a purple crystal suspended by chains. An ominous voice begins to speak to us and identified itself as “The Sinner”.

A large purple and pink ombre crystal, and the logo for the movie "The Dark Crystal" next to it. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

The Sinner crystal reminds Bee & Tif of The Dark Crystal, much to Al’s disappointment. If you’re not familiar with this Jim Henson 1982 classic, we definitely recommend checking it out.

An upside down Statue of the Seven from Mondstadt in Genshin Impact. It is hanging upside down, chained, and has a purple glow. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

And of course, we were also reminded of the Defiled Statue from the first Dainsleif Archon Quest back in Mondstadt. Are they related or do people just like hanging stuff upside down in this world?

Lumine, from Genshin Impact, in the reflection of a broken mirror with a wooden frame. Though there are a few missing pieces of the mirror, we can see that Lumine is shocked. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

The most dramatic part of the entire quest is when we look into the broken mirror and see the reflection of our sibling. Completely shook, we have a bunch of flashbacks and feel uneasy. That is until we hear Dainsleif call for us from outside the hut.

Pierro, from Genshin Impact, looks directly at the camera. The photo has a dark blue tint to it. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

We all sort of admit this theory might not hold water, but what is the possibility that our sibling was shacking up with Pierro? We know the Fatui Harbinger was around at that time and is from Khaenri’ah. Could he be an ally?

Two characters from the TV show the Walking Dead. They stand ten feet apart in an open field with trees behind them. The character on the right has their arms crossed and looks down at the grown while the other looks longingly at them. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

This haunting scene, whether in the original “Of Mice and Men” or in the homage to the predecessor in “The Walking Dead”, is referenced in the episode when thinking about the decisions Chlothar must have faced.

A young boy cries, wiping a tear, while sitting above his dead mother. His father runs toward him from behind while flames roar around them. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

Bonus Video: We don’t mention it during the episode, but this fan video celebrating the 3rd anniversary is SPECTACULAR. Especially the depiction of the Caribert situation.
