Tales of Teyvat, a Genshin Lore Podcast

Episode 60: The Descenders

SEASON THREE

Every episode our team will work to provide you with visual and video aids to help you better understand comparisons and what we’re talking about.

Below are some resources surrounding what we discussed about The Descenders that may be helpful to better understand this week’s lore:

Aloy and Wanderer, two characters not presently in Irminsul. Aloy, left, is standing redy to shoot her bow. Wanderer, right, grins menacingly at the camera, holding his hat with one hand.

While discussing which characters are effected by Irminsul and which are not, we mention a quick way to check… the character’s ‘Collected Miscellany’ videos. Where Dainsleif is the standard narrator, Alice voices the ones not in Irminsul. Examples are Aloy, who is an outlander and Wanderer, who has been erased.

A seelie and a seelie court in Teyvat from Genshin Impact. The seelie court, left, has a seelie in it and is glowing the same light blue as the seelie.

Bee talks about the Seelies as divine envoys and how their story continues in Chenyu Vale, the latest region of Liyue.

Let us know what you think of the latest story in Chenyu Vale.

Nahida telling the Traveler about being a descender and their sibling not being one. Nahida is shown from the side profile as she looks off screen, her mouth slightly open as she talks.

After completing the Sumeru Archon Quest, Nahida tells us that we are the fourth descender, that the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles is the first, and that our sibling is recorded in Irminsul – meaning that they ARE from Teyvat.

The black snake and genesis pearl shown during the battle pass cutscene narrated by Venti. A large and white pearl sits in a clam. The clam is surrounded by a black snake with glowing red eyes that looks directly at the camera.

While talking about Phanes and the scribe of Istaroth, Feens mentions that she always thinks back to the snake shown in the Battle Pass cutscene when a serpent is talked about.

The Spring Fairy from the cutscene played in Genshin Impact. The Spring fairy wears her blue hair tied back in a pony tail with some pieces hanging in the front. She has blue eyes and looks down, peacefully, to a blue stone in her hands.

During the recent poetry event, we learn about the Spring Fairy and how she cursed Diona with the ability to make delicious cocktails. As Feens points out, that is far from the only curse we know in Teyvat.

Celestia as seen from Chenyu Vale in Liyue. It is shown very small on a dark blue sky over mountains and a grassy plane. There is a circle imposed on the image showing a more close up image of Celestia. It mostly looks like a giant rock with smaller rocks around it it a ring.

From the new region of Liyue, Chenyu Vale, if you look up to the sky you will notice Celestia looks a little different. That’s because we’re actually seeing it from the bottom. If you had butthole on your ToT bingo card, congrats.

Apep, the Dendro Dragon, and a fan sign for Nibelung. The sign is a red hand sticking up the pointer finger as Apep glares in the background.

Apep, the Dendro Dragon, is a big fan of Nibelung, the Dragon King.

Lumine being put down by a ruin guard and staring at a dandelion.

We talk about the story teaser for the “We Will Be Reunited” quest and specifically the Ruin Guard carrying Lumine. Is Bee onto something, could that Ruin Guard actually be Dainsleif?

Paimon farting into the night sky of Teyvat. The fart cloud is green as Paimon looks ready to high five you.

Leave it to Al to bring us toxic star farts.

A woman impatiently waiting. She sits on a bed, fully dressed, with sunglasses on. Her hands are folded in her lap.

Feens is waiting, impatiently, for more lore to drop.

What are you patiently or impatiently waiting for next in the story?

Heidi Klum's husband and Lady Gaga dressed as eggs. Top is Heidi Klum as a peacock as some of her assistants act as her feathers. In the same photo is her husband dressed as an egg. Bottom left is a large egg being carried in by four people on a wooden platform. Bottom right shows Lady Gaga emerging from the egg in a gold outfit with smoke around her.

Feens is very into the idea of eggs hatching. Here are the other IRL references made in the episode.

Heidi Klum and husband Tom Kaulitz dressed as a Peacock and egg for Halloween. Lady Gaga emerged from an egg at the Grammys.

Four of the gnoses from Genshin Impact. From left to right is the anemo, geo, electro, and dendro ones in their respective colors (light blue, yellow, purple, green).

Four of the seven gnoses, containing the chopped up 3rd descender. Can they be stitched back together? Is that the Tsaritsa’s plan?

She belongs to this world.

Artist Spotlight

Hideaway Melon's artwork of casual Lumine and Aether of Genshin Impact. Lumine stands on the left holding a juicebox in her and and holding it up as if waving at us. She looks at the camera in a white sweater, with a black turtle neck sweater underneath it. She has on yellow shorts, one long black sock, and one ankle high black sock with white sneakers. Aether, on the right, looks off screen as he drinks his juicebox and has his other hand in his pocket. His outfit has the same color and deign style as Lumine, but he wears a large white shortsleeved hoodie, with a brown hood. Under it, is a light brown turtleneck sweater. He wears brown capris and white boat shoes.

There are so many talented & creative people in the Genshin community, and we’d like to spread some love to a wonderful artist – Hideaway Melon. Does anyone else wish these fits were available in game for the siblings?! Casual Lumine & Aether are exactly what we’d imagine them to be IRL. This roommate duo of Hyde and Melan make fantastic art of the characters we love in Genshin (and the ‘other’ game that Tif won’t mention) and we love all of it! Not only do they have beautiful digital pieces, they also make a lot of physical items like pins and stickers. Be sure to check out their shop for some great goodies.

See more work from Hideaway Melon on X/Twitter, Instagram, and visit their store on Etsy.
