Episode 61: Lisa, Witch of Purple Rose

SEASON FOUR

Every episode our team provides travelers with visual and video aids to help better understand comparisons, learn more about topics, and follow what we’re discussing. While we strive to include links to official Genshin Impact resources, some may also be to third-party channels.

Below are some resources surrounding this episode about Lisa, Witch of Purple Rose, that may be helpful to better understand the talking points and lore:

Gif of Lisa, from Genshin Impact. Lisa is wearing her Sumeru skin, which is white and green. She is standing in front of a shelf of books in the Mondstadt library. She flips through a book and at one point yawns, bringing a hand to cover her mouth.

Is Lisa tired from working so hard or just lazy? Or, perhaps she learned at the Sumeru Akademiya that life is too short for all the stress? Either way, if you catch her napping, be sure not to be the one to wake her, or else you’ll get a little shock.

Mona and Lisa from Genshin Impact standing next to each other on the bridge outside Mondstadt.

Battle of the big, dumb hats. Whose is worse? Lisa with the doily or Mona with the button. Let us know what you think on Instagram or X/Twitter.

The official character artwork of Lisa, Witch of Purple Rose. Lisa looks at the camera, holding a stack of books in one hand and holding her other hand up.

Poor Lisa, one of the few OG characters without a Collected Miscellany video. As Feens notes, it’s only a few characters missing this type of introductory video and we think Lisa still deserves one. Maybe even posthumously? 😮

Lisa in her Sumeru Akademiya character outfit. Lisa sits on a brown and green chair, holding a book in one hands while looking at the camera. Next to her is a stack of books and a Sumeru lamp, made to look similar to a flower in bloom. Behind her are shelved filled with books.

One thing Lisa didn’t miss out on was a second character outfit. Donning her Akademiya pride in green and gold, Lisa’s outfit is far from the normal uniforms we see in Sumeru City. And while fashion may be dead in Spantamad as Al quips, Lisa definitely adds some spice back to the look.

Sandra Oh, star of television series The Chair. She leans against a desk in a law office, behind her a large wooden cabinet is filled with law books. Sandra oh has curly hair, bangs, and wears a long sleeve black shirt with a plaid skirt, as her one arm is crossed over her. Super imposed over the photo is an avatar of Bees, from Tales of Teyvat, with a text bubble filled with four yellow stars.

While talking about Lisa’s alma mater, Bee recommends “The Chair” starring Sandra Oh. You can stream the series on Netflix. Send Bee a note on X/Twitter if you check it out!

A cryo abyss mage and the book The Pale Princess and the Six Pygmies. The Abyss mage is slumped down, looking at the ground, as if it has been defeated. Super imposed on the image is a quote from the mage saying "After all, it contains... the secret..." Additionally, the book is over laid on the image. The book is off white with purple detailings and a matching off white rose in the center.

During Lisa’s Story Quest, Troublesome Work, we search for a lost book that we ultimately get back after a fight with an Abyss Mage. We learn from them that the Abyss Order stole “The Pale Princess and the Six Pygmies” because it contains… the secret. Dun dun duuuuuunnnn!

A cart that is right within Mondstadt's gate. The cart is made of wood and has an attached awning that is propped up on wooden sticks on every corner of the cart. The awning is orange and white striped. The cart has two wheels and two legs, with arms to pull it, similar to a wheelbarrow. In the cart are many fruits and veggies, but most importantly there is a large pile of orange pumpkins.

Lisa’s cucurbitophobia, or fear of pumpkins, must cause her quite an inconvenience seeing that there’s a cart full of them right inside the city walls. Does she have to sneak out the back gate every time she comes and goes?

A hydro slime, which is blue with white eyes, sitting on top of a ball of dough. It is over laid on top of a purple and pink ombre background.

When Lisa was introduced on social media, the post included the first question she asked the Sage on her first day in the Sumeru Akademiya: “If you put enough flour into Hydro Slimes, would they turn into Dough Slimes?” Note to self, don’t eat anything Lisa makes for you.

Jean (left), Lisa (center), and Eula (right), all from Mondstadt in Genshin Impact, sit around a wooden table on round wooden stools. On the table there is a tea pot and several cups.

Imagine walking through Mondstadt and running across these gal pals having tea time. Lisa, Jean, and Eula often enjoy afternoon tea together. Whether or not Lisa uses her incredibly expensive tea-cauldron to keep it warm is up for debate.

The secret Hexenzirkel island above Falcon Coast. On a crazy field there sits a long table draped in a white table cloth. There is a green lantern on the table. Around it are seven fancy pink chairs, stacks of books, and a pink umbrella hanging off of a hooked brown pole.

Another group of tea lovers are the Hexenzirkel witches who often meet on their secret island above the Falcon Coast. Lisa tells us in her voice line about Mona that she’s not a part of their coven and that the “idea of Irminsul exploration and formal tea parties just leaves me cold.” Must be the company, TBH.

Letters from Afar

Kirara, from Genshin Impact, standing next to a wooden mailbox and a squirrel. Imposed next to her are letters. She stands on a stone tile with grass around it. Behind her is a beautiful pink sky.

Fellow traveler Iona wrote in and asked if we could be related to any Genshin character or NPC, who would we choose.

Bee and Al would both choose to be Cloud Retainer’s adopted children, Feens would like Gaming as a fun brother to trauma bond with, and Tif brought out the surprise incest (unintentionally) by choosing Rosaria.
