Episode 90: Kaveh, Light of Kshahrewar

SEASON FIVE

Every episode our team provides travelers with visual and video aids to help better understand comparisons, learn more about topics, and follow what we’re discussing. While we strive to include links to official Genshin Impact resources, some may also be to third-party channels.

Below are some resources surrounding this episode about Kaveh, Light of Kshahrewar that may be helpful to understand the talking points and lore better:

Genshin Imapact's Kaveh, Light of Kshahrewar. Kaveh is shown at a desk, resting his head one his hand that is leaning on a table. His other hand holds a green feather pen as he is working on blueprints.

Get to know the Light of Kshahrewar in his character demo and character miscellany videos. Both give a glimpse into this imperfect Akademiya alumni.

Kaveh, looking sad and surprised, holding the diadem, a gorgeous green and yellow crown, during the Interdarshan Competition in Sumeru.

We see Kaveh follow in his father’s footsteps in the Crown of Glory event, which centers around the Interdarshan Championship. Unlike his father, Kaveh wins the competition and “meets” Sachin after returning the diadem.

The symbols of the six Darshans of the Sumeru Akademiya. They ar all circular in shape. Clockwise starting from the top left - Kshahrewar - a white lion, Spantamad - a red peacock, Amurta - a green Phoenix, Vahumana - a yellow hourglass with a horse behind it, Haravatat - a black piece of paper next to a bull, and Rtawahist - a blue elephant with stars.

Bee gives us a recap of the six Darshans of the Akademiya, and Feens tests her knowledge by naming a character for each school. How many can you name? Or are you like Tif who can’t even remember how to pronounce the Darshan names?

Kavhe's multi-functional toolbox, Merhak. Mehrak is in the shape of a suit case and is mostly gold. It has green accent and two neon green glowing rectangles in the center that seem to be eyes.

Merhak is not just a fashionable accessory to Kaveh’s fit, it’s a fully functioning toolbox made from ancient Deshret-era technology. Along with helping him fight and do his job, Merhak also contains Kaveh’s sketchbook that tells the story of his life.

Sumeru sentient beings Karkata (top) and Benben (bottom). Karkata is described as a mechanical crab. It is white with orange accents and has one large glowing orange eye. Benben is a triangle shaped being with gold accents.

Bee tells us his theory that perhaps Merhak is infused with the spirit of Jinn. He reminds us that Liloupar used to take the remnants of Jinn and put them in machines, which reminded us of two of our favorite sentient machines: Karkata from Tighnari’s story quest and the primal construct Benben from the Jeht questline.

Alhaitham from Genshin Impact stands looking at the camera being shown from the waist up.

Whether you buy into the implied love story of Alhaitham and Kaveh or not, there’s no denying that these characters have a special bond. Even after a time of not speaking, Alhaitham took Kaveh in to live with him. Granted it was a house that they were both given, but who’s splitting hairs?

Dori's Palace of Alcazarzaray in Sumeru. It is built on a cliff side with a gazebo, giant fountain and regal stair cases. There is a waterfall behind it.

The Palace of Alcazarzaray is Kaveh’s crowned jewel! Dori gave him free rein to design the palace of his dreams, and so he did. Fighting against the practical architecture trend of the time, Kaveh went all out. Unfortunately, his Mora also went all out…of his pockets.

Kaveh's Monthly Frustration-Be-Gone furnishing set - a box of assorted wine bottles with a red towel on top of it.

Needing to be frugal in his current financial situation, the Monthly Frustration-Be-Gone furniture set tells us that Kaveh often buys boxes of wine right before they expire at a reduced rate. So next time you see him tipsy, just know he’s racing against time and has to finish that wine before it turns to vinegar.

A 2D avatar of Bee, Tales of Teyvat host, wearing Mona's witches hat. Bee's avatar wears a black t-shirt and white glasses and has his arms crossed over his chest.

Our resident personality expert, Bee, did some digging into Kaveh’s potential types based on what we know about this tragic character. He found that our architect friend could fit into three categories: ENFJ-T (Protagonist), INFJ-T (Advocate), and ENFP (Campaigner). Which do you think fits him best?

Genshin Impact's Paimon and a movie kamera. In front of her on the table is a blank postcard and a brown Kamera her hands. Her eyes are closed and she is laughing. In front of her on the table is a blank postcard and a brown Kamera.

In this episode, we channeled our best Nancy Kerrigan impersonation after Tonya Harding knocked her knees.
