Tales of Teyvat, a Genshin Lore Podcast

Episode 28: Yae Publishing House

SEASON TWO

Every episode our team will work to provide you with visual and video aids to help you better understand comparisons and what we’re talking about.

Below are some resources surrounding what we discussed about the Yae Publishing House that may be helpful to better understand this week’s lore:

The Yae Publishing House in Genshin Impact. It is a brown building in a triangle shape with a green roof and purple accents. It is made in traditional Japanese architecture. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

Yae Publishing House is located just north of the waypoint nearest the Adventurer’s Guild in Inazuma City. Nestled at the bottom of the large staircase, it sits in the shadow of the Grand Narukami Shrine. There you can purchase a bunch of books, including the book “The Serpent and Drakes of Tokoyokoku” which is needed to complete a quest in Enkanomiya.

A book, "Treasured Tales of the Chouken Shinkageuchi," from Genshin Impact. It has a purple eye in the centr with a gold circle and electro symbol. The book has red corners and purple flowers. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

Another book available for you to purchase at the Yae Publishing House is “Treasured Tales of the Chouken Shinkageuchi.” Al reads a passage from this book during the episode that talks about the puppets created in Inazuma.

The city of Inazuma during a festival in Genshin Impact. The street is lined with food stalls and vendors with orange lanterns hanging from strings lighting the path. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

Yae Miko invites Xingqiu & Albedo (as their pen-names Zhenyu & Calx) to the Iridori Festival to promote “A Legend of Sword.” While the book collection is a best seller, Miko has ulterior motives to try to get Albedo to illustrate other works for the publishing house.

Other books celebrated at the festival are Alice’s Inazuma expansion to the Teyvat Travel Guide, and the book Klee made with help from Yoimiya.

Miss Hina (left) and Gorou (right) from Genshin Impact. Gorou is a human with brown hair and brown dog ears. Miss Hina is a feminine version of Gorou with longer hair and a dress, but is also a cardboard cut out. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

Created by Yae Miko, Ms Hina is a fake advice columnist that Gorou unknowingly pens. She even went as far as making a cutout that is obviously just a woman version of Gorou. Since he’s so afraid of Miko, Gorou keeps answering the questions she gives him. He’s found he actually enjoys doing it.

Sumida and Kama, NPCs from Genshin Imapct. Sumida stands to the left of Kama and wears a purple dress with pink flowers. She has dark hair and glasses. Kama wears capri, striped joggers, and open sweater and an oversized hat. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

Sumida & Kama’s story isn’t quite over after you leave them in Inazuma. On a journey for inspiration on her novel, you can run across them by the antique stall in Liyue Harbor. After chatting with them there, you can then chat with them once more in the library in Mondstadt. Do you think we’ll run across them again in the future?

Little Nine and Qianqian from Genshin Impact. On the left is Little Nine, a young girl with a flower in her hair. To her right is Qianqian, a girl dressed in the same outfit but with her hair parted differently and no flower in her hair. She also glows like a ghost. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

After recording the episode, your hosts went down a rabbit hole of trying to prove that Little Nine and the ghost girl from Chongyun’s Hangout, Qianqian, were the same girl.

The similarities are uncanny, but nothing in the stories seem to link these pseudo-twins.
