SEASON TWO

Every episode our team will work to provide you with visual and video aids to help you better understand comparisons and what we’re talking about.

Below are some resources surrounding what we discussed about the Chasm that may be helpful to better understand this week’s lore:

A blue and silver nail floating in the sky a cave. This is a sky nail from Genshin Impact. It glows blow. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

The second skynail we see in the game is down in the Chasm, and of course, we have to cleanse it again.

Who was Celestia targeting this time? The abyss?

The top shows a 3D model of Celestia, a floating island in the sky in Genshin Impact. The bottom shows the landscape of The Chasm, rocky steeps that lead to a hole. There is orange grass and trees. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

We talk about the theory that the empty space above ground at the Chasm is a similar shape as the bottom of Celestia, leading people to believe they were once whole. If you haven’t seen it, you can see Celestia in the sky throughout Teyvat.

What looks like the top part of a stone tower from a castle hanging upside down in a cave. There are purple stones underneath it. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

In the southeastern section of the Chasm, we see the upside down city in the Nameless Ruins. Has it always been upside down? Are we upside down? Or is this a reflection of the abyss?

The book, "Records of Jueyun" from Genshin Impact. It is a light green with white string on the binding. It has yellow. diamond shaped flowers and a made up font in black. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

Volume 6 of the Records of Jueyun explains how the Chasm was formed from a falling star. You can acquire all volumes of the book collection throughout Liyue.

The Unusual Hilichurl from Genshin Impact. He has a human like body, with a white mask with ears and red writing covering his face. Behind it is a white mane of fur. He wears a yellow hat, purple tie and torn up clothes. His one hand is over where you would assume his eyes would be blocking them from the sun. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

The Unusual Hilichurl most likely had the same fate as the other hilichurls, but what makes him so special? What business is he doing with that shnazy tie? And why does he have so many cabbages? You can find the Unusual Hilichurl in 14 different spots across Mondstadt & Liyue, all shown on the interactive map.

A pole arm from Genshin Impact. It is brown with golden veins pulsing through it. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

The skynail’s purpose seems to be protecting the world from forbidden knowledge. The Staff of the Scarlet Sands weapon says, from King Deshret’s point of view: In the original world, the barriers were torn down, and the dark poison had penetrated the earth. To heal that fragile, sad, and imperfect world, the spikes descended and pierced through the earth’s crust.

A gold bohemian crown with purple and green jewels. It is the Amethyst Crown from the Flower of Paradise Lost artifact set. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

The Amethyst Crown from Flower of Paradise Lost artifact set also speaks about the skynail from the perspective of the Goddess of Flowers: But the master of the heavens, consumed by fear for the rising tide of delusion and breakthroughs, sent down the divine nails to mend the land, laying waste to the mortal realm…

A made up language from Genshin Impact glows purple in a dark room's wall. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

There are many spots in the Chasm where you find glowing purple text. As Al mentioned, you can read the translated text over on Reddit.

There are so many talented & creative people in the Genshin community, and we’d like to spread some love to a wonderful artist – Em (@Emselada). We really love their work and especially this touching piece of Xiao & Lumine. The emotion and heaviness of the story is shown so well without even seeing a single face.

See more work from Em on Twitter and Instagram. Be sure to check out their new Instagram account as well.
