Tales of Teyvat, a Genshin Lore Podcast

Episode 37: The Twin Archons

SEASON TWO

Every episode our team will work to provide you with visual and video aids to help you better understand comparisons and what we’re talking about.

Below are some resources surrounding what we discussed about The Twin Archons that may be helpful to better understand this week’s lore:

The Raiden Shogun, from Genshin Impact, sits on a blanket with three friends, one who has their head in the Raiden's lap. Raiden looks up longingly but happy. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

The intro into the Raiden Shogun story tells a lot in very little time. If you pay close attention you can follow Ei’s life as she loses her friends and ultimately her sister. Watch as she transforms to the cold Shogun we first met in Inazuma.

Ei, from Genshin Impact, kneels while holding onto the limp body of her dead sister. She leans into her sister's chest and cries. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

We learn more about the state of Ei and how she sees the world in the story teaser “Promise of a People’s Dream.” We get a glimpse of the moment the twins were reunited before Makoto’s death.

Ei, from Genshin Impact, sits alone on a black surface with a red sky and black moon behind her. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

The Plane of Euthymia is where Ei has been contemplating eternity while the Shogun runs the nation. During the Archon Quest Chapter II: Act II we are transported to this tranquil state and face off with Ei.

We discuss where we think the Plane of Euthymia may possibly exist and our best guess is under the Grand Narukami Shrine. The door to the weekly boss fight lives there and seems to defy space and time. Where do you think the portal lives?

The book, "Treasured Tales of the Choukem Shinkageuchi" from Genshin Impact. This book has a purple eye shaped symbol in the middle with a golden circle and electro symbol inside of it as well. Behind it is a blue background. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

The book Treasured Tales of the Chouken Shinkageuchi is mentioned a few times in this episode. It contains much of the early lore we know about the relationship between Ei and Makoto. You can purchase this book at the Yae Publishing House in Inazuma.

The Raiden Shogun, from Genshin Impact, pulls a purple glowing sword out of her chest while looking directly at the camera This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

The Musou Isshin, aka titty sword, is the weapon passed down from Makoto to Ei. A piece of Makoto’s consciousness is unlocked from the sword when Ei finally uses it to its fullest capacity. This sword is also integral when performing the Musou no Hitotachi – the powerful attack we see used at the end of the Signora battle.

A white cat sits on the sand colored ground looking at a sword that was left there as a sort of memorial to someone who has passed. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

There are not many that can survive the Musou no Hitotachi, and Kazuha’s friend – named Tomo by the fanbase – unfortunately found that out first hand. You can visit Tomo’s grave off the side cliff of the Shrine. Along with his sword you’ll find his inactive vision (if you’ve completed the Archon Quest) and his white cat.

An anemo vision and electro vision, both from Genshin Impact, sitting on the back of their heads, defending them from other people. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

Kazuha had better luck against the Musou no Hitotachi because the previously dead vision of his friend (read: boyfriend) activated at the perfect time to stop the Shogun from slaying the traveler.

Feens brings up a theory from YouTuber Ashikai when it comes to the Sacred Sakura and the idea of time loops.

A hand with purple nail polish, assumed to be the Raiden Shogun from Genshin Impact, drops a purple seed from their hands.

From Traveler Abshid:

“I have a crackpot theory, that Paimon is not Istaroth but becomes Istaroth and goes back in time to set in motion the current events. I say this because we were there when Sacred sakura was planted, Ei did it in front of us, meaning things that happen in the future can create the events in the past and this beyond the power of Irminsul.”

Thanks for sharing your theory!
