SEASON THREE
Every episode our team will work to provide you with visual and video aids to help you better understand comparisons and what we’re talking about.
Below are some resources surrounding what we discussed about Mahamatra Cyno that may be helpful to better understand this week’s lore:

Before following us down the path of the General Mahamatra, revisit his character teaser for a refresher.

During Cyno’s character demo we get a good look at his jackal inspired outfit. That is if you can look past those shorts.

Cyno’s Collected Miscellany video brings us into the world of the Akademiya scholars and how they push the limits. Along with the need for the Matra and especially the General Mahamatra.

The Court of Desolation takes center stage during Cyno’s Story Quest. We learn his previous partner Taj has seemingly gone down a dark path and potentially may try to resurrect his son Murtada. The son he put in jail for researching the ruins, who then committed suicide days later.

As mentioned above, we journey to the Court of Desolation during Cyno’s Story Quest. At the end of the quest, we find that Taj’s reasons for being at the ruins were not nefarious but instead were quite heroic as he plans to bury the ruins – and himself – deep under the sand so no one can be tempted to research them again.

We mention in the episode that our first interaction with Cyno actually comes in the form of a fight with Alhaitham. This battle ends up being a simple misunderstanding but is still pretty intense as these two heavy-hitters face off.

Cyno really loves Tighnari’s nuts.
So much so that Cyno can be seen bringing the delectable Candied Ajilenakh Nuts to many people and places in Sumeru.
And yes, you can also make Baklava with the Ajilenakh Nuts as Al mentions.

While we don’t have a ton of information about Hermanubis, a great sage during the reign of King Deshret, we do know that Cyno’s Mahamatra outfit was made to have a likeness to him. Cyno’s Elemental Burst is also said to allow him to channel the divine spirit of Hermanubis.

Cyno’s story starts back in the Manga, where we see him seal Collei’s powers within her as a way to protect her and others around her.
If you’re interested in reading the Manga, you can find links to it on our Resources page.

We mention that Cyno shares a master with another beloved character, Lisa. Both Cyno & Lisa studied at the Akademiya under the former sage of Spantamad, Cyrus. No, not the Mondstadt NPC… although we’re sure he would have also been a great foster dad to Cyno.

Bee tells us that if you use Nahida’s ability to read minds you’ll find out that Shohre, a Matra, is thinking if she continues to hide she won’t have to deal with Mahamatra Cyno’s jokes. Or probably more so, she won’t have to listen to him painfully explain the joke.

We talk about how Razor may have a familiar connection to Cyno based off his constellation. Are these canine inspired characters long lost brothers or simply just coincidental? Let us know what you think!
