SEASON THREE

Every episode our team will work to provide you with visual and video aids to help you better understand comparisons and what we’re talking about.

Below are some resources surrounding what we discussed about Liloupar and the Fall of Gurabad that may be helpful to better understand this week’s lore:

Liloupar, a Jinni from Genshin Impact, is a floating bottle that is see through. In the middle there are two glowing yellow lights. It has a pink, gold and purple top and is surrounded by a gold bar. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

We meet Liloupar, the Mother of Jinni, during the ‘Dirge of Bilqis’ questline. She lives in a floating bottle and is in search of her missing fragments.

A tree with no leaves and barely any branches, that curves at the top sits on an island in the middle of a small lake. Birds fly over top of it, there is a pink/orange sunset behind it, and the scene is claming. This is the Orchard of Pairidaeza in Genshin Impact. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

The Jinn, who originally served Nabu Malikata before her death, were tricked by King Deshret to serve him based on the lie that Nabu was still alive and living in the Orchard of Pairidaeza.

A tree, with think branches and trunk, covered in green leaves grows underground toward a big hole in that lets in light. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

Once we defeat the Primal Construct in the questline, we watch the area around us go from a lush green to a dry desert and a small crack in the wall appear. This is when we first meet the sharp-tongue Jinni for the first time.

Christina Aguilera, with blonde hair, looks off into the distance toward an imposed image of a blue genie with a red hat coming out of a golden bottle. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

While discussing her majesty the Jinni, Bee starts to sing ‘Genie in a Bottle’ – the 1999 hit by Christina Aguilera. It just fits too perfectly into the conversation.

A painting of the queen of Sheeba, who sits in a golden chair wearing a tight white dress and crown. She is being fanned by two women with peacock feathers. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

Al references the Queen of Sheba and how she seduces King Solomon. If you’re like Tif and unfamiliar with the Queen of Sheba – outside of as a euphemism for acting high & mighty – read more about her story at Britannica.

The book "The Shepard and the Magic Bottle" from Genshin Impact. It is purple with a gold border. It has a bottle in the middle, similar to how Liloupar looks, with smoke around it. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

The Shepherd and the Magic Bottle is a book you can pick up off a table in the House of Daena in Sumeru City. It tells the story of a shepherd who came across a magic bottle with an unexpected being inside… a descendent of Liloupar.

The book "The Tale of Shiruyeh and Shirin" from Genshin Impact. It is a red book with a silver border that shows a brunette man and woman looking down and away from one another. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

The Tale of Shiruyeh and Shirin can also be found in the House of Daena in Sumeru City. This book collection tells the unintentional incestual relationship between Liloupar’s daughter (with Ormazd) and son (whom she left with a divine bird).

An open clam with a big white pearl in is is surrounded by a large black snake with red eyes. This is a part of the Battle Pass cutscene in Genshin Impact. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

According to The Tale of Shiruyeh and Shirin: Born upon a lily pad amid fragrant dewdrops, the white ibis blessed her, and the cobra bequeathed to her a cerulean pearl, and even the mighty giant crocodile bowed to her in worship. Which sounds an awful lot like the Genesis Pearl we learn about in the Battle Pass cutscene.

A domain in Genshin Impact. It is a grey stone building with a blue glowing square with designs in it on top. The door has a matching triangle design and their are sand covered stairs leading up to it. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

As mentioned in the episode, King Deshret and Nabu Malikata built the city of Ay Khanoum for the Jinn. While we don’t know exactly where the City of the Moon Maiden was located, there are some clues that lead us to believe it once stood where the one-time domain Altar of Mirages stands today.

A glass bottle that it is sea through. Inside of it we see mountains and a small floating island with a blue orb. The bottle itself has a red top and colorful bottom and is surrounded by water with a pink father atop of it. It is in the desert. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

We chat about how the bottle that brings us over to Bottleland during the summer event Veluriyam Mirage has a lot of similarities with the bottle Liloupar lives in. Could there be a connection or simply an aesthetic of the game?

Babel, an NPC in Genshin Impact, stares down the camera through an eye covering. She is scary and alluring at the same time. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

During the quest we meet Babel. She has little to do with the Liloupar lore, but Al is a huge fan so we wanted to be sure you knew exactly why Al is infatuated with her. Hint: it’s not her eyes.

Ed Sheeran looks at the camera and hold his guitar, by the neck, over his shoulder. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

We can’t help ourselves, the name Shirin just sounds too much like Ed Sheeran. This isn’t the first connection to Genshin that the singer has… may fans have recreated his songs using the Windsong Lyre. It’s pretty fantastic. Have you seen any other songs recreated with the Lyre?

The Wenut, a boss from Genshin Impact, imposed over a picture of a tremor from the movie Tremors. In a circle, we see a surprised, and young, Kevin Bacon. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

Our six degrees of Kevin Bacon has gotten shorter with the Wenut. The creatures that torment a town in the movie Tremors, starring the once teen heartthrob, look a lot like the sand worm we fight in Sumeru.

A small scale pyramid floats in a large room. There is a blue glow coming from the top with an eye shaped light. There is a smaller pyramid underneath it that is also glowing blue and is upside down. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

During the Memories of Gurabad quest we get a look at some of the ruins of what is left of Gurabad. You can explore this area for yourself as well once you complet the quest.
