SEASON FIVE
Our team provides travelers with visual and video aids every episode to help them better understand comparisons, learn more about topics, and follow what we’re discussing. While we strive to include links to official Genshin Impact resources, some may also be to third-party channels.
Below are some resources surrounding this episode about Chef Mao Xiangling that may be helpful to understand the talking points and lore better:

Our special guest for this episode, Vanessa, is an avid Xiangling player and overall Xiangling fan. She also told us that she has Cyno’s weapon equipped on her. Which weapon do you have on your Xiangling?

We talked about Xiangling’s new Lantern Rite fit. We all love the little details and tiny Guobas (peep the bandage and soles of her shoes). Feens pointed out one surprising difference: the size of her vision.

After meeting Xiangling for the first time, she immediately starts a cooking contest with Springvale’s local chef Brooke. We love Brooke, not only for her willingness to go up against an accomplished chick like Xiangling but also for being our first plus-sized lady NPC.

Vanessa tells us about the dubious food that you can make in Zelda. While the sus food in Genshin turns grey, Zelda’s food looks like Ajaw (aka pixelated).

Forget Stacy’s mom; Vanessa wants Xiangling’s dad. This beefcake might be the most eligible bachelor in Liyue Harbor and the number one dad. He checks all the boxes: attentive, caring… alive.

If you’re interested in learning more about Guoba’s previous life as the Stove God (Marchosius), check out our episode on the Guili Assembly.

Sweet baby Xiangling met Guoba after he slumbered for quite some time in a cave. That had to be some really good cornbread to wake him up!

Obviously, food is a big part of Xiangling’s backstory. We talked about how she named Guoba after her favorite dish as a child – Jueyen Gouba. We also spoke about the Wanmin Restaurant’s signature dish, Black Back Perch Stew.

Here are some helpful links if you’re unfamiliar with the pop culture references we mentioned during the episode. We make reference to the famous line, “I am the captain now,” from Captain Phillips and the show The Bear.
