Episode 114: Ganyu

Is Ganyu Good? We start this episode talking about a very funny video of YouTuber Aris commentating on some Ganyu pulls. If we could only figure out how to practice our pulls. 😆

When we think of heterochromia with our playable characters, Candace would be everyone’s first thought. She does have the definitive example of complete heterochromia after all. But she has some company with this condition; Ganyu has sectoral heterochromia, meaning only partial sections of the iris are made of different hues.

We gotta have more cowbell! Luckily, Ganyu has one to spare. Homage to her goat-traits? Nope. She uses it as a way to wake up in case her naptime spot gets wheeled down the road again.

During Ganyu’s Story Quest, we learn a few things from Cloud Retainer about our half-adeptus friend. Along with some embarrassing stories of a chubby kid, we also learn about the Qilin and Ganyu’s concern about fitting in with the humans of Liyue Harbor.

It’s easy to understand why Ganyu would assume the Fatui Skirmisher hanging around Qingce Village may be up to no good; typically, they are! But this one was just trying to pick some berries in peace. Wonder if he’ll ever file that complaint with the Qixing?

We talk about Ganyu’s body image issues and the recent introduction of Varesa as a playable character. Body image can be a sensitive subject for many IRL, statistically more so for women, and we can’t help but wish the two people focusing on eating weren’t both female-presenting.

Yaoyao may be the youngest adepti-disciple, but she’s also the “mother” figure. She’s always making sure Shenhe and Ganyu are doing good and putting their well-being before her own.

Bee tells us that during Cloud Retainer’s Story Quest (the one Feens refuses to play) Ganyu gets to turn the tables on her mentor. And while this story isn’t as embarrassing, it certainly makes Xianyun blush.
