Tales of Teyvat, a Genshin Lore Podcast

Episode 13: Tartaglia, Childe, & Ajax

SEASON ONE

Every episode our team will work to provide you with visual and video aids to help you better understand comparisons and what we’re talking about.

Below are some resources surrounding the 11th Harbinger, Tartaglia, aka Childe, aka Ajax, that may be helpful to better understanding this week’s lore:

Childe, a character for Genshin Impact, is bent over in a fighting stance holding a hydro sword in each hand. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

In the official Childe character demo, we hear him reading a letter to his younger sister Tonia about the “trivial” matters he’s dealing with in Liyue. Chaos, burglary, attempted murder… you know, trivial things.

Columbina, a Fatui Harbinger from Genshin Impact, leans on a piano seemingly singing to herself. A light from the sky shines down on her. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

We talk about the Harbinger video that was released over the summer out of the blue. It gives a glimpse into the Fatui Harbingers and puts a face to all the names.

This image shows two characters from the commedia dell'arte dancing together. The character on the left holds a bat with one foot raised off of the ground while the other plays guitar with one foot off of the ground.

Ajax the great as shown on an old piece of pottery. The piece has orange in the background and characters drawn with brown paint.

Genshin is good for bringing both history and mythology into the story. This week we discussed their reference to Ajax the Great & Teucer. Ajax the Great was a warrior in the Trojan War and Teucer was his bow-wielding half-brother. Their story is told in Homer’s Illiad, but here is a shorter read for those interested.

On the left is Pulcinella, from Genshin Impact. On the right is Igor from Persona 5 Both characters look similar, with long irregular noses. This image is showcased on the website for Tales of Teyvat: A Genshin Lore Podcast.

Is Feenster right… does the Fatui’s Pulcinella, aka The Rooster, look like Igor, the manager of the Velvet Room in Persona 5?

Nat from the Genshin Impact Fan Fiction, Tales of an Ex-Snezhnayan. Nat has blonde hair with full bangs and top knot in her hair. She has a long scar across her notse and wears a red button up underneath a brown sweater that showcases the red shirt. On her neck sits a yellow jewel, her Geo vision.

You’re right Feens, “He’s up to something alright.” I mean, but when is he *not* up to something?

….he tries to kill the traveler
…he tries to steal the gnosis
…he was going to obliterate Liyue
…he is a Harbinger after all

But what should we expect from the boy your mother always warned you about? Hurry, somebody warn the traveler!
