Episode 67: The Yuheng of Liyue, Keqing

SEASON FOUR

Every episode our team provides travelers with visual and video aids to help better understand comparisons, learn more about topics, and follow what we’re discussing. While we strive to include links to official Genshin Impact resources, some may also be to third-party channels.

Below are some resources surrounding this episode about The Yuheng of Liyue, Keqing, that may be helpful to better understand the talking points and lore:

Keqing, the Yuheng of the Liyue Qixing from Genshin Impact. This is a close up of her as she hold her sword that glows purple.

Along with a look into fighting skills, Keqing’s character demo gives us a sneak peek into her no-nonsense, organized, work-oriented mindset.

Keqing, a character from Genshin Impact, in her idle stance. She stands with her legs together, hold her hands up to her face.

Keqing’s collected miscellany dives deeper into her uncompromising work ethic, stance on Rex Lapis, and pride in Liyue.

A group of Liyue Characters (Left to right: Aether, Chongyun, Keqing, Xingqiu, NPC) discussing books during the Moonchase Festival. They stand on a broken stone pathway during an orange sunset.

Keqing’s unofficial story quest takes place during the Moonchase Festival in 2022. Along with the budding friendship of Keqing and Xiangling, we learn a lot about the Stove God – aka Gouba – including the fact that Keqing’s grandfather once researched this Liyue legend as well.

Keqing and Charlotte, from Genshin Impact, stand next to one another in Liyue harbor. They stand a good distance apart on a stone patio with small kiosks behind them.

At the start of the 2024 Lantern Rite Festival, we ran into an unlikely pair – Keqing and Charlotte. We learned that Keqing had requested Fontainian mechanics to help ensure that all the kites during the festival would fly high, regardless of wind. Charlotte excitedly accepted this as a start to a cultural exchange between the nations.

Keqing, from Genshin Impact, in her secondary outfit from the 2022 Lantern Rite Festival. This dress is dark blue and black and resembles the wings of a butterfly. Keqing moves with grace in the image.

In the 2022 Lantern Rite Festival, we see just how overworked Keqing is. We follow her all over the nation, fixing problems, giving offerings to the Adepti, and solving the mystery of the missing fireworks. It’s exhausting just thinking about it. At least Keqing got a brand new outfit for all her troubles.

Keqing, from Genshin Impact, on the Jade Chamber fighting Osial with the Adepti. She stands with her legs apart as if catching her footing and her sword held in an arm behind her. It sparkles purple from the electro energy.

During the episode, we discuss Keqing’s relationship with the other powerful women in the Qixing and Liyue in general. She even fought alongside Ningguang in the Battle for Liyue Harbor against Osial.

Zhongli from Genshin Impact as a bobblehead figurine. His head is much larger then his body and there are lines next to his head to represent motion.

After the death of Rex Lapis and seeing firsthand just how much the former Geo-Archon did for the people, Keqing became a bit of a fangirl of Morax. We mention how she even snuck away from her friends on a shopping trip to purchase a bobblehead figurine of him, only to get caught and fess up to her love of Rexy.

An electro vision being thrown from the Jade Chamber in Genshin Impact. The Jade chamber is white and gold and floats in the sky. The electro vision falls from it, though it is larger then it would be actually thrown from the Jade chamber. There are white lines streaking behind it showing its falling movement. The sky is bright blue with puffy white clouds.

Being a cynic of the gods and visions in general, it’s no surprise that Keqing tried to get rid of her vision like so many others. She even went as far as throwing it off the side of the Jade Chamber. Imagine the damage that could have been done to a passing hilichurl! Let’s be honest, if it was going to hit anyone, it totally would have been Bennett.

Keqing from Genshin Impact looking at a map from Liyue Harbor while standing on a mountain side overlooking Liyue harbor on a sunny day.

As the Yuheng of Qixing, it’s important that Keqing knows the ins and outs of Liyue. As part of her attention to detail, she memorized every plot of land to be sure it was being used to its best ability. We even see her looking at a map of Liyue Harbor during her idle time. Although it’s probably more likely that she’s making sure the map is correct rather than using it as a reference.

Keqing from Genshin Impact holding her hand to her chest while wearing a yellow cartoon hard hat.

Vanessa equates Yuheng’s position as an IRL urban planner, which pretty much sums up the main aspect of Keqing’s job. Imagining her walking around with a hardhat is pretty funny! Especially knowing she’d have to have her ears poking out the top.

Profile shot of Keqing from Genshin Impact showing her hairpin. Her hair pin is a white flower with five leaves. There are gold leaves coming off each end that attach at a hallow diamond piece.

Tif explains the many practical uses of Keqing’s Survival Hairpin and all the ways this accessory is handy while spending time outdoors. As Bee points out, her camping time was most likely for business and not leisure. Hopefully, she has this super-tool insured by the Qixing.

A close up of Ninnguang from Genshin Impact as she looks alluringly into the camera.

Al discusses the Qixing’s naming conventions and briefly explains the etymology. If you’re interested in learning more, we discuss these titles more in depth in our Ningguang episode from last season.

Book of Genshin Impact characters as Olympic athletes. The cover says "Teyvat Sports Festival" and shows Raiden Shogun, Layla, Kokomi, Nahida, Zhongli, Hu Tao and Xiao all in a fan art style of characters wearing sporty fits.

As we lament our own lack of outdoorsiness, Feens tells us about an art book she recently got by artist @honhonx that envisions Genshin characters as Olympic athletes. While Keqing might not have been depicted as an athlete, being the coach actually seems more appropriate for this control freak.

Letters from Afar

Questions and comments delivered weekly by Kirara and the Komaniya Express

Kirara from Genshin Impact standing next to a wooden mailbox and a squirrel. There are two letters imposed next to her and she stands on a stone patio with grass and a pink sky behind her.

Thank you to fellow travelers Rahama and Aspen for writing in. We truly appreciate your questions and comments! If you’d like to send us mail via the Komaniya Express, reach out on our Instagram, X/Twitter, or email. We’d love to hear from you! And Kirara could use the work.

Sucrose and Osial from Genshin Impact. Sucrose is in the foreground holding a vile of a potion and touching her glasses with one hand. Behind her, the blue snake/dragon Osial seems to yell with its mouth open and eyes glowing a lighter blue then its body.

Rahama asks about our thoughts on Sucrose and the possibility of an episode focused on the alchemist. While we don’t have one scheduled this season, we have her on our radar for future seasons. Aspen tells us about their theory that Osial could have traveled from Fontaine to Liyue, and we want more! We’re all looking at our maps for a possible travel path.
