Episode 71: Deepwood Memories

SEASON FOUR

Every episode our team provides travelers with visual and video aids to help better understand comparisons, learn more about topics, and follow what we’re discussing. While we strive to include links to official Genshin Impact resources, some may also be to third-party channels.

Below are some resources surrounding this episode about the Deepwood Memories artifact set that may be helpful in understanding the talking points and lore better:

Spire of Solitary Enlightenment domain. It is a small building made of stone with large doors built into a rock mountain side. Next to it is a tree. Imposed on top of the image is a circle showcasing the inside of the domain. It is covered in stone and has a purple tone to it.

The Deepwood Memories artifact set can be found at the Spire of Solitary Enlightenment domain, just outside the Chasm in Sumeru. Bring a friend or co-op partner when you visit the domain and jump on the mushrooms in front of the entrance together for an easy little achievement.

The Labyrinth Wayfarer artifact. It is a bright green flower with gold accents and borders. In the middle is a green gemstone. A lime green branch with two small leaves comes off of it.

The Labyrinth Wayfarer is the flower artifact of the set. It tells us about the “True Tiger” and Lord of the Forest – Viaghara. Along with the story of how they were born to the labyrinth, it also talks about their stripes, which were constantly changing and looked as if they were blazing in the sunlight. It also gives us our first look into the infamous Cinnamon.

The Scholar of Vines artifact. It is a green feather made of three "feathers" that have a golden border to them. It has a green ribbon coming off of it. At the base of the leaf there is a a gold design with a green gemstone in the middle.

The plume of the set is the Scholar of Vines. It continues to tell us about Cinnamon, how she can “read the poetry of moonlight” and understand the language of all beasts, and that she was a royal servant of Viaghara.

The Time of Insight artifact. This artifact is a gold hour glass. The bottom of the hour glass has a gold base and green sand. The top half seems to be painted gold so you cant see how much sand is left to fall. There are several green leaves coming off of the hourglass.

A Time of Insight is the sands artifact and focuses on a different perspective than the others. Here, we learn of friends who were interested in how they could live forever and capture dreams. This piece is where we can deduce some history of Dottore and just how far back his obsession with Irminsul began.

The Lamp of the Lost artifact set. It is a crown. On the front there are a few petal shaped designs with golden borders and green interiors. In the center is a green gemstone.

The goblet piece is called Lamp of the Lost and brings in the lore of the Lord of Folly, aka King Deshret. It also ties back to the story of Xiphos and Makhaira of Tulaytullah after Deshret’s death.

Laurel Coronet

Lastly is the circlet, the Laurel Coronet – the crown that no one seemed to want to keep. It was created by Greater Lord Rukkhadevata for Viaghara, who later gave it to Cinnamon, who we’re sure also got rid of it like it was full of cooties.

The Varuna Contraption from Genshin Impact. It is a yellow and blue sphere that floats in a rotting tree stump in the Sumeru Rainforest.

The Varuna Contraption, located in the Apam Woods, is a device made by Greater Lord Rukkhadevata to control the Varunastra – a giant pillar of water that constantly nurtures the forest that was once a desert. It was in this water’s reflection that the labyrinth was created along with Viaghara.

The Consecrated Fanged Beast from Genshin Impact. It is a large green lion like beast. Its skin is light green with dark green swirls and designs. Its tale is long and shaped like a leaf and it has long green claws. It's toes look like they're wearing silver rings and guards that go up the wrist/ankle. The face is covered by what looks like a stone mask with green fangs.

Feens compares Viaghara’s appearance to that of the Consecrated Fanged Beast, found in Pari Land area in the desert. This baddie only shows up once you complete the Khvarena of Good and Evil quest.

Two TCG cards that have the character Cinnamon on it. The card on the left shows a woman's profile with no face. She has long brown hair, wears a piece of see-through fabric over her face, a crown (AKA The Laurel Coronet Artifact) and a feather (the Scholar of Vines artifact). She has a green dress, bands on her upper arms and the background is detailed with green and gold decor. The card on the right shows the same figure on a plain grey background, but she only wears the crown and dress.

Cinnamon’s image is shown on two TCG cards – the Deepwood Memories artifact set and the Laurel Coronet. We discuss the differences between the two cards and pretty much assume they are only different because one represents the full set, and the other is just for the circlet.

Sudabeh, a child NPC in Genshin Impact. She wears her brown hair in two small braids and wears a purple and white dress with a purple cropped sweater. She has visible shorts on under the dress and brown sandals.

We talk about the different descriptions of Cinnamon and what her title may have been. Sudabeh, the little girl we chat with after the Aranara Odessey, refers to her as a princess and says that she wants to be like her – strong, smart, and pretty – and take Rana as her bride. While she might be a little young for Rana, we like her ambitions.

Genshin Impact's Paimon and a movie kamera. In front of her on the table is a blank postcard and a brown Kamerah her hands. Her eyes are closed and she is laughing. In front of her on the table is a blank postcard and a brown Kamera.

Here are some helpful links if you’re unfamiliar with the music or movies we mentioned during the episode. Feens summoned Madonna’s Like a Virgin for her ‘Like a Burgeon’ rendition. Bee brought up Lady Gaga’s HBO concert and the Spice Girls, and we talked about the upcoming sequel to Beetlejuice.

Letters from Afar

Questions and comments delivered weekly by Kirara and the Komaniya Express

Kirara from Genshin Impact standing next to a wooden mailbox and a squirrel. There are two letters imposed next to her and she stands on a stone patio with grass and a pink sky behind her.

Thank you to fellow travelers Serena and Icarus for writing in. We truly appreciate your questions and comments! If you’d like to send us mail via the Komaniya Express, reach out on our Instagram, X/Twitter, or email. We’d love to hear from you! And Kirara could use the work.

Zhongli, Hu Tao, Itto, and Charlotte from Genshin Impact standing next to one another.

Serena asked who we think talks the most, other than motormouth herself – Paimon. Al said the verbose Zhongli, Bee said chatterbox Hua Tao, Feens said the 35-titled Itto, and Tif said the double-speed reporter Charlotte.

Qiqi from Genshin Impact super imposed on top of the imaginary tree from Honkai. It is a tree shown to have giant purple branches and is surrounded by a purple exploding sky.

Icarus asked what we think would happen to the people of Teyvat if the connected Ley Lines malfunctioned. Bee referenced the Imaginary Tree in Honkai (and Tif’s brain malfunctioned), Tif expects we’d all be zombified, while Al thinks everything will restart, and Feens expects everyone to be leaking memories all over the place.
