Episode 131: Deacon Dahlia

SEASON SEVEN

Our team provides travelers with visual and video aids every episode to help them better understand comparisons, learn more about topics, and follow what we’re discussing. While we strive to include links to official Genshin Impact resources, some may also be to third-party channels.

Below are some resources surrounding this episode about Deacon Dahlia that may be helpful to understand the talking points and lore better:

Deacon of the church, BFF to Barbatos, popcorn enthusiast, and nosy-nelly. Dahlia likes to be in everyone’s business so much that sometimes he makes the drama for himself to solve.

Dahlia was mentioned in the game much earlier than we saw his inquisitive little face. As you’d expect, these are all centered around other Church of Favonius characters like Babs and Rosaria. Our first official introduction is in Paralogism.

Back in January 2022, alternate outfits were introduced for some Mondstadt ladies. Dubbed the ‘modesty fits,’ these outfits made subtle changes that covered up a bit more skin. It hasn’t happened again, so Rosaria, Jean, Mona, and Amber are the only ones. Correction, we forgot to mention Amber in the episode.

Seamus Pegg and Dahlia are both part of the Church of Favonius, there is no doubt about that. And it would stand to reason that their outfits would have some similarities. But no one else seems to match them. Is there more to it?

Is that a tattoo on the back of Dahlia’s leg or a perfectly symmetrical birthmark? There’s no lore leaning one way or the other, but it’s fun to think he lost a drinking game with Venti and had to get a tattoo as the losing prize.

Dahlia’s character trailer shows some thugs breaking into the Dawn Winery, but they’re stopped by Diluc! No, wait, that’s not right. Checks paper…they’re stopped by Dahlia! WHAT? Yeah, we’re a little surprised by that one too. Master Diluc left his post, not likely.

We finally see Dahlia in Mondstadt during Paralogism, where it becomes clear very quickly that the Herald of Barbatos is keen on the bard’s double identity. And his fondness of wine.

Here are some helpful links if you’re unfamiliar with the IRL references we mentioned during the episode. Tif and Bee talk about Rosaria’s potential (not really) vampire story line and how she’d be Teyvat’s Blade.
