Tales of Teyvat, a Genshin Lore Podcast

Episode 91: Remuria and the Sea of Bygone Eras

SEASON FIVE

Every episode our team provides travelers with visual and video aids to help better understand comparisons, learn more about topics, and follow what we’re discussing. While we strive to include links to official Genshin Impact resources, some may also be to third-party channels.

Below are some resources surrounding this episode about Remuria and the Sea of Bygone Eras that may be helpful to understanding the talking points and lore better:

Sumeru desert oasis in Teyvat. There is a body of water in the middle of the sandy desert with a few palm trees and grass next to it. Behind it, you can see the dry and orange rock structures and sand of the desert.

While Remus is a hugely influential character of the Fontaine area, he actually comes from Sumeru. Before traveling the seas to get away from the rule of Deshret, he was a singer at the desert oasis.

Sybilla as a Golden Bee in Remuria. The Bee looks more like a random firefly or lantern fly from afar then an actual bee and glows gold.

We talked a lot about a beautiful bee – not our very own handsome Bee, but a golden bee. When Remus found Sybilla, she was hanging around a golden branch of an Irminsul tree with a case of amnesia.

The Fragment of Harmonic Whimsy artifact set. Top left - a black disc with golden hands and blue bubbles on it. Top right - a a black flower with a golden and blue center and a golden leaf with blue bubbles on it. Bottom right - a golden leaf with black and blue decor. Bottom right - a black bell flower that resembles a trumpet with blue line work and a golden piece wrapping around it. Middle - a golden crown sitting on a black mask with a blue crack under the right eye.

The Fragment of Harmonic Whimsy artifact set, found in the Faded Theater domain in Petrichor, contains a good amount of lore surrounding the overall story of Remus and Remuria.

Aventurine, from Honkai Star Rail, stands in a welcoming pose wearing rose colored sunglasses with wind swept blonde hair. Behind him are flashing laser lights and the Sumeru lighthouse. Above him are the words "Twink Tank" in neon pink and blue.

Boethius (left) and Cassiodor (right) of Remuria as their stone bodies. Boethius wears a face covering as well as a read and white toga. Cassiodor wears the time face covering and a blue and white toga that is short and shows that he is also wearing white shorts and gladiator sandals.

Remus promoted four humans to stand by his side as the Harmosts, including two of the story’s most prevalent characters, Boethius and Cassiodor. We see them both during the Sea of Bygone Eras quest line in their marble/stone state.

Cassiodor as a cat who is white with one blue eye and one green eye. The cat wears a golden collar with a diamond shape on it. It sits on a blue chair.

We see Cassiodor in another state as well…a beautiful heterochromia cat that Paimon names Osse. After completing the quests down in the Sea of Bygone Eras, you can visit Osse in Petrichor. He’s chilling there, living his best life on a stoop.

Spendor of Tranquil Waters sword, a blue sword whos handle is surrounded by a swirl of water.

Another integral character in the story is Erinnyes. She was a Locknight and ruled during the final years of the Remurian Empire when she united the tribes of Fontaine against Remus. While we don’t know what she looked like, we know she was the original wielder of the sword Spendor of Tranquil Waters.

A Magical bookcase in the Faded Castle. In the bookshelf there is a blue glowing door with books levitating inside of it, blocking the entrance. There is a golden glowing disc above the door and books piles around the door on the floor.

When we first start the quest, we’re brought down into the ruins of a magical-looking library with floating books. From there, we can enter Remuria after giving some pets to kitty Osse.

Scylla, a dragon, in chains in the Sea of Bygone Eras. Scylla looks like a white translucent whale with purple accents. The chains glow white and are connected to large rock pillars that surround the whale shape.

Scylla was the dragon prince who was in charge of protecting Egeria’s prison. After fighting Remus for 30 days, Scylla followed him on his path to creating Remuria. When we met him, he was a fraction of his original size and held by chains.

The castle of remuria that is under the sea. It looks like it has a red carpet of stairs leading up to a large golden organ. There is a spotlight on the top of the stairs. It is elegant.

Here at Tales of Teyvat, we love a good cutscene. And if you fell in love with the area’s music like Tif did, the final cutscene does not disappoint. Watch on YouTube.

Genshin Impact's Paimon and a movie kamera. In front of her on the table is a blank postcard and a brown Kamera her hands. Her eyes are closed and she is laughing. In front of her on the table is a blank postcard and a brown Kamera.

Here are some helpful links if you’re unfamiliar with the pop culture references we mentioned during the episode. Feens traumatized us by bringing up Thomas J from My Girl. But then cheered us up by singing Symphony by Clean Bandit.
