Tales of Teyvat, a Genshin Lore Podcast

Episode 105: Golden Slumber: Jeht’s Story

SEASON SIX

Our team provides travelers with visual and video aids every episode to help them better understand comparisons, learn more about topics, and follow what we’re discussing. While we strive to include links to official Genshin Impact resources, some may also be to third-party channels.

Below are some resources surrounding this episode about Golden Slumber: Jeht’s Story that may be helpful to understand the talking points and lore better:

Cover art of the 5.6 archon quest Paralogism showing Jean and Albedo with their backs to one another and Kaeya and Aether stuck between them on a snowy path with a piece of paper.

We start off the episode with a short detour to discuss the latest update trailer and Albedo’s alleged homicide. You can watch the trailer here: Version 5.6 “Paralogism” Trailer

The Sumeru Desert shown in beautiful purple and pink hues.

The ToTs are no strangers to the Sumeru desert. In fact, this is our sixth episode about the region. While it’s not a prerequisite for this episode, check out our other episodes about the desert: The Gods of the Desert, Liloupar and the Fall of Gurabad, Remnants of Gurabad, Temple of Silence, and Pari Land.

Matriarch of the Tanit Tribe, Babel. She has pink curly hair, an eye covering and wears a half hood over her head with star like earrings and a skin tight brown outfit that is slightly see through. She has a red scarf like item wrapped around her hips.

The Matriarch of the Tanit Tribe is Babel, aka Babybel or Boobbel. While we don’t meet her directly in Golden Slumber, she plays an integral part in Jeht’s past (and future).

White Day art of Jeht showing her in a cute 2D art style sticking her tongue out and showing us one eye from her eye cover while holding a triangular gift box.

Jeht is a fan favorite, one reason we see her in the 2024 White Day art. One of the coolest parts of this art is that it gives us a peek under her traditional Eremite mask. And what do we see? A golden eye! Such a Sumeru desert beauty.

Mondstadt merchants Bonifaz (left) and Nachtigal (right). They both wear traditional Mondstadt outfits with brown boots to the knees and pants tucked into the boots with garters on one thigh. They also wear brown belts and shirts that are closed in the front by a tied string. Bonifaz wears an outfit that is yellow and brown and Nachtigal wears a green outfit. Both are blonde.

What are Mondstadt merchants doing in the Sumeru desert anyway? Overcharging their customers to hire Sumpter Beasts. But wouldn’t the Sumeru people know better than to fall for these scammers? Not the forest researchers. And with so many looking to crack the Deshret secrets, Bonifaz & Nachtigal have a booming business.

Mercenaries Jebrael (left) and Jeht (right) both with purple hair, eye coverings and brown and red outfits.

At the forefront of our story is the father-daughter mercenary team of Jebrael and Jeht. And, boy, did Feens have a thing for Daddy Jebrael. We can’t deny it, he is pretty beefy and rugged. And the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Jeht’s quite the looker herself.

Researcher Tirzad and the Scarlet Sand Slate. Tirzas wears a green hat with an Akademiya emblem with the traditional green outfit of the Akademiya. The Scarlet Sand Slate, imposed on top of him, is gold and brown with a light blue detailing on the top.

Tirzad is out researching the ruins because he has the Scarlet Sand Slate. A relic that fell into his lap after his relative ran off with a wild desert man. Which is our first clue that Tirzad is actually related to Jhet. Turns out that the relative was Ufairah, Jeht’s mother.

Benben, the mechanical being that aids in the Golden Slumber world quest. It is a triangle made up of three golden triangles that connect at a black and gold center.

The perfect pairing to the Scarlet Sand Slate is a triangular mechanism that Jeht just so happens to find in the ruins. She quickly names him Benben, which Bee tells us is also the word for the triangle at the top of a pyramid.

The Ruin Serpent and Wenut imposed next to each other with hearts.

We found a ship that Tif can get behind… the Wenut and the Ruin Serpent. Where else would the tiny Wenuts come from? It’s science and destiny.

Enterance of Aaru Village where you can see Cyrus, Bonifaz and Nachtigal the Sumpter Beasts.

If you haven’t gotten your fill of Bonifaz & Nachtigal, you can go back to Aaru Village and visit them whenever you’d like. Be sure to give Cyrus & Dandelion a good belly rub too while you’re there.

Genshin Impact's Paimon and a movie kamera. In front of her on the table is a blank postcard and a brown Kamera her hands. Her eyes are closed and she is laughing. In front of her on the table is a blank postcard and a brown Kamera.

Here are some helpful links if you’re unfamiliar with the pop culture references we mentioned during the episode. Feens references SPY x FAMILY, we do our best Bambam impersonations, and Tif does her best Admiral Ackbar – “It’s A Trap!”.
