Episode 96: The New Knave, Arlecchino

SEASON FIVE

Our team provides travelers with visual and video aids every episode to help them better understand comparisons, learn more about topics, and follow what we’re discussing. While we strive to include links to official Genshin Impact resources, some may also be to third-party channels.

Below are some resources surrounding this episode about The New Knave, Arlecchino that may be helpful to understand the talking points and lore better:

Genshin Impact's Arlecchino, the new Knave of the Fatui Harbingers. She looks down at us as she kneels, one ar over her knee and the other up in the air.

We get a glimpse into Father from her character teaser, character demo, and miscellany videos. Throughout all of them, we see the juxtaposition of her harsh exterior and her love for children.

Father of the House of the Hearth, Arlecchino. She is shown looking back over her shoulder at the camera. She has a long white ponytail behind her, red eyes and wears a white long jacket with tight black pants. Her outfit has red and black detailing on it.

Arlecchino is a badass, so it only makes sense that she has a badass outfit. But Feens found one major flaw with her look… the ponytail. Instead of committing to a short-hair fem idol, they added the safety touch of femininity.

Arlecchino as shown at Signora's funeral. She looks to have short black and white hair and wears a large winter coat with black feathers and fluff around her neck.

The first on-screen look at Arlecchino came during the interlude “A Winter Night’s Lazzo,” aka Signora’s funeral. Along with Father, we got a look at the other Harbingers as well. All in their snazzy winter coats.

Arlecchino stalking Furina during the Fontaine Archon Quest. She wears a black sleeveless vest with a black cape that has the hood up. The inside of the cape is read and she wears a black blindfold. Behind her. Furina plays in the street with a black and white cat.

Picture this, you’re the Hydro Archon, and you’re out one night playing with a kitty, minding your own business. Then, out of nowhere, here’s Arlecchino darting at you with her murderous eyes! Suffice it to say, Furina’s uneasiness around Father is warranted.

Ronova, the shade of death,( left) and the book Perinheri (right). Ronova is a large red eye surrounded by six other red eyes that seem to be held in a red and black slit in the sky. The book Perinheri has a red bind and shows a brown eye on the front cover with some unknown language.

Bee brought us down a very interesting rabbit hole with Perinheri and Ronova, the Shade of Death. Pierro tells Arlecchino she should read Perinheri to understand her ancestors of the Crimson Moon Dynasty in Khaenri’ah. Ronova is a creepy cluster of eyeballs in the sky.

Crucabena, AKA Mother the previous Knave. She has pale pink hair that covers her one eye and is tied in a french braid that lays over her shoulder falling into her chest. She smiles, wearing a white turtle neck and black cape and holding a book close to her chest.

A first for our playable characters, ‘The Song Burning in Embers’ is a full animated story of Arlecchino’s backstory. We meet Crucabena, aka Mother, and get a look at Peruere’s friendship with Clervie.

Caterpillar (Left) and Arlecchino's charred hands (right). Caterpillar is a young male model with grey hair, dark eyes and black coming up from his hands and from under his boots. He wears a green top and brown shorts. Arlecchino's hands are black with back and red nail polish and lots of silver accessories.

We talk about how Arlecchino’s Balemoon Bloodfire power comes with some downsides. One of those being the charring of her hands and arms. But this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a character with this type of ailment; Caterpillar from the Narzissenkreuz Saga also has limbs like this.

An ex-child of the House of the Hearth. On the left, we see him now - he has long blonde hair that wisps into his face, blue eyes and a scar across his nose. He wears a traditional french outift with a black shirt, green jacket and blue neck tie. In the bottom left we see a photo of him when he was in the House of the Hearth with short blonde hair and overalls.

Tif mentions a previous House of the Hearth member with a scar across his face, which Lyney tells us was never seen again after a special meeting with Father. We later run into a newsboy with the same scar, which foreshadows the exit of Filliol & Nanteuil.

Arlecchino's balemoon blood outfit. It shows her with darker hair and a darker outfit with a deep V-cut in her jacket, showing more skin then normal. Her eyes are piercing and she has dark red wings.

It’s ill-advised to look into Arlecchio’s eyes, especially at the end of an epic fight. Four against one seems pretty favorable, but not when you’re up against Father. Even when you have the Traveler on your side.

Detective Paimon - Paimon wearing brown glasses with eyebrows attached to them and a fake brown mustache. She smiles smuggly.

Since Clervie wasn’t able to travel the world as she wished as a child, Perrie enlists us to tell her about all we’ve seen. Paimon jumped at the chance to bring back Detective Paimon, and we loved it!

Clervie, Peruere's best friend shown when she was still a young girl. She has long bubblegum pink hair with bangs. A white headband with a bow holds some of the hair back. She has green eyes, wears a white ruffle dress and wears a blue flower on a necklace around her neck.

The end of Arlecchino’s story quest concludes with Clervie finally gaining freedom from her mother as her BFF Perrie releases her from the House of the Hearth.

Genshin Impact's Paimon and a movie kamera. In front of her on the table is a blank postcard and a brown Kamera her hands. Her eyes are closed and she is laughing. In front of her on the table is a blank postcard and a brown Kamera.

Here are some helpful links if you’re unfamiliar with the pop culture references we mentioned during the episode. Bee talked about the TV show Revenge, we mention Twin Peaks by the late-great David Lynch, and had two versions of Angelica – Hamilton and Rugrats.
