SEASON SIX
Our team provides travelers with visual and video aids every episode to help them better understand comparisons, learn more about topics, and follow what we’re discussing. While we strive to include links to official Genshin Impact resources, some may also be to third-party channels.
Below are some resources surrounding this episode about Nahida that may be helpful to understand the talking points and lore better:

Our first look at our Dendro Archon, Nahida, came in a slightly chilling birthday video. What starts as a cute birthday memory quickly turns into a repetitive nightmare that continues to get darker each pass.

Throughout the episode, we mention two previous episodes that go further into the Sumeru lore and stories. Pack some snacks and travel back to the Gods of the Desert (S2 E34) and Sumeru So Far (S1 E15) for more Nation of Wisdom lore.

The Grand Sage of the Sumeru Akademiya, Azar, is the head honcho of the jerks keeping little baby Nahida locked up in a birdcage. The sages kept her there for 500 years because they were disappointed with Lesser Lord Kusanali.

Nahida’s birdcage, aka the Sanctuary of Surasthana, was built on the highest treetop of Sumeru City. Under the guise of their Archon being super busy, the Sages told the people they spoke for her.

Tif won’t let it go that Sumeru has workable pillows. Much to Feens’ dismay, the house Dunyarzad puts us up in comes with a pillow. We might not see Traveler and Paimon sleeping in a bed until Meropide, but we know the bed was used. And what kind of monster doesn’t use a perfectly fine pillow when it’s available? (Apparently, Feens.)

We were all shocked when the Sumeru trailer came out, and it showed a sneak peek into the cutscene where we saw Katheryne being stabbed. Were we about to lose our Adventurer’s Guild friend? Nope, just proved she is a robot. Phew.

The final memory of Greater Lord Rukkhadevata is a bittersweet one. Nahida learns the truth of her existence and the sacrifice made for the people of Sumeru and Teyvat. All to lose it moments later when she has to control+alt+delete her predecessor out of Irminsul.

Nahida’s first story quest comes shortly after the time when Sumerians were able to dream again. And they were hooked! Especially when Moseis was manufacturing dreams with their lost loved ones.

In Nahida’s second story quest, we meet a fun guy. I mean, a fungi. We learn all about the fire seed, Apep, and the beings that live inside her belly. Yummy.

At Nahida’s next birthday that we get to experience with her, she repeats her carriage story like the first trailer, but this time, it’s full of joy and friendly faces. She surprises all the people by having the Aranara show up. Reminder, this was during the SAG VA strike, so there’s very little English voiceover available.

Here are some helpful links if you’re unfamiliar with the pop culture references we mentioned during the episode. We mentioned four songs (one beautifully sung by Bee) in the episode. For reference, they are “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston (from The Bodyguard), “Nookie” by Limp Bizkit, “This is America” by Childish Gambino, and “Dreams” by Gabrielle. We also mention the movie Love & Monsters.
